Hi everyone
Just a quick update below on dates/times of a few upcoming events in the community that are great for job networking, socializing and meeting the Irish American community.
First, we are offering three complimentary tickets (3 people, first come first served) to J-1’ers for the upcoming Origin Theatre Summer event (below). These tickets have been generously donated by Stanley Goldstein and Failte 32. The first three J-1’ers to reply to our email, will be added to the attendee list.
We are also offering to J-1’ers on a first come first served basis a couple of free tickets to the upcoming IBO Summer event on June 26th at Tuttles at 735 2nd Ave between 39th and 40th St. In addition, we are offering two free tickets to their Breakfast meeting (full Irish breakfast served!) in the Fitzpatrick’s Hotel 57th St. on June 18th.
Finally, we are offering a couple of free tickets to J-1’ers, again first come first served, to the Women’s Advancement Compact event on June 26th – See below.
Not to be missed is the IRISH COMMUNITY GATHERING COIS ROCKAWAYS on June 2. Every J-1’er should attend this great event (see below to register). Transport will be provided on the day, and admission to the festival for first 500 to register is free (provided by
http://irishfestaohdiv21.com/)
Building on the Irish Days of Action for the Rockaways following Superstorm Sandy last year, we invite you to join other members and friends of the Irish community at the Rockaways Irish Festival. If you wish, you can come and volunteer in the ongoing recovery effort for a couple of hours or else just bring family and friends to join with the Rockaways community for a day of Irish culture and friendship. To recognize the contribution of the 2,000 volunteers who came out to help the Rockaways community last year, we will provide admission tickets for Festival to the first 500 people who register. Transport will be provided on the day from the Irish Centers in New York. Proceeds will go to Hurricane Sandy Relief efforts
Among the Performers Scheduled to Appear
- Shilelagh Law
- The Canny Brothers
- U2 Unforgettable Fire Band

Wine Tasting: It’s All In The Nose! June 26th
Have you ever noticed that when reviewers write about wine, they spend much time waxing poetic about the aromas detected on the nose? Well, depending on who you speak with, taste is 80 – 90% smell!
Partake in an interactive and energizing exercise to focus your attention on the aromas of wine. Once you identify certain everyday smells, picking the aroma up on a wine is a subconscious effort.
Enjoy foods, paired to enhance the sampled wines as a ‘second course’ to the evening. Share your palate preferences with others- before and after food is introduced to the equation.
After this evening, you will never approach wine in the same way.
6:00 P.M. Meet and greet
6:15 P.M. Program Commences
Cost
Women’s Advancement Compact community members and Failte 32 members $75, guests $99

WHO’S
YOUR
DADDY?

Johnny O’Callaghan’s
Who’s Your Daddy? is the uplifting and funny true story of his adoption of a Ugandan orphan. No one expected the single, gay, out-of-work actor to ever become a father – but a documentary shoot in Africa turns into an odyssey of the heart.

Then, Valerie reveals a startling story of her own…. Conor McPherson’s The Weir is a haunting evocative evening in the theater you will never forget.
