The IAHCC is a wonderful, ad hoc organization which promotes Irish Heritage and Culture among the students and teachers of the NYC Department of Education.
The IAHCC does not receive funding from the New York City Department of Education and relies solely upon private donations.
The Mission Statement of the IAHCC is as follows:
The Irish-American Heritage& Culture Committee, Department of Education, City of New York is a not-for-profit, 501 (c)(3) organization, dedicated to promoting among our New York City public school students and teachers, the rich heritage and culture of the Irish and their enormous and varied contributions to the United States of America.
The IAHCC conducts seminars, oratory and art contests and gives recognition to outstanding Irish Americans and Irish-American organizations.
The IAHCC honors the memory of Thomas J. Cuite, Majority Leader, City Council by honoring those who exemplify his unwavering commitment to the highest standards and principles of service to others.
The UICANY would like to recognize our delegates and friends who are dedicated and enthusiastic members of the IAHCC, John and Ann Garvey and Jim and Rosemary Lombard.
