Failte32.org Update for Summer J-1 visa holders

Hi everyone

Just a quick update on some upcoming events in the Irish American community that are great for job networking. It’s important that you at least attend the Aisling Irish Community Center Information Workshop (immediately below). The Aisling Irish Community Center (www.aislingcenter.org), the Emerald Isle Immigration Center (www.eiic.org), and the New York Irish Center (www.newyorkirishcenter.org) are the main Irish Government funded organizations in NY, and have great resources available to assist you in your job search, so please make use of these great organizations. They are there to help you and give you solid advice and direction while in NY.
The 2013 New York-New Belfast Conference takes place over two days from June 12 & 13 at Fordham University, Lincoln Center, starting 5:30 pm Wednesday and 9:00 am Thursday.
Failte 32 is offering 2 free tickets to the above event to the first two J-1 visa holders (one to a Summer J-1 visa holder and the other to a longer-term IWT J-1 visa holder) to reply to our email and answer the following question correctly:
For Ireland to reduce its economic dependency on attracting, and the presence of, foreign multinational corporations, and minimize and insulate the impact of larger foreign economies on its small open economy, it is imperative that we develop indigenous industries particularly tourism, agriculture, life sciences, and alternative energy, which will provide a resilient base of jobs into the future, and economic independence and sustainability to our maximum potential.
Q. What percentage of Ireland’s exports do foreign owned corporations account for. Hint: it’s high
A new Govt. strategy focused on developing indigenous Irish companies with a target of at least 20% exports by Irish owned enterprises by the year 2020, is realistic goal. We have the resources, we just need to deploy them towards achieving the same goal. The ‘Gathering Ireland’ is a good start to helping develop the indigenous Tourism industry in Ireland. Maybe Tim O’Connor, Chair of The Gathering Ireland (www.thegatheringireland.com), can build and expand on this great initiative by introducing a new ‘Indigenous Ireland’ initiative in 2014. No better man! For those of you old enough to remember, there used to be a ‘Guaranteed Ireland’ initiative years back. It was certainly an effective banding effort as it had an impact on me and many others at a very early age. Lets bring back the Celtic Tiger economy again on a more sustainable basis.
